Film: Mere Apne (1971)
Vinod Khanna played the role of a gang leader in a colony in this film that dealt with issues faced by the youth. Dressed in black sunglasses, crisp shirts and trousers, he epitomised swag. How can we forget the sideburns? Baap ka beta hai toh saamne aa, he immortalised this line. Film: Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971)
Jis parivaar ke purkhon ne mujhe daku banaya hai, use paani denewala zinda nahi reh sakta..Vinod Khanna played dacoit Jabbar Singh in this flick directed by Raj Khosla. It was an action-romance that earned Dharmendra a lot of accolades.

Tributes have poured in from the film industry, sportsmen and TV actors. The actor was admitted in Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital after he was diagnosed with dehydration. On the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu), who says that I have heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saying:

Allah Ta'ala says when my slave recites 'Ar Rahmanir Rahim' (The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful) I say 'Athna ‘alayya abdi' (My slave has praised Me through My beautiful names and attributes).
